Don't Use 1-800-Flowers... EVER!

I don't normally speak poorly of a company on the first time they fail to come thru with what they advertise, but this is the 2nd time...

"1-800-Flowers" or online at www.1800flowers.com ... for the 2nd time DID NOT deliver the flowers I ordered.

The first time was for a birthday, my daughter's birthday, and it was 3-4 years ago. I ordered those with plenty of notice... 3-4 days, and they never did show up! I swore then that I'd never use them again, and I waited a good long time before giving them a second chance. This year... that 2nd chance came... and they flopped.

On Friday, May 12, I ordered flowers for my mom to be delivered to her at her office. She has room for them there and can enjoy them all week long... The website promised SAME DAY DELIVERY if the order was placed before 2-pm in the time zone of the recipient. I made sure of making that deadline - I ordered at 9-am central, which was 7-am in her time zone...so they had 7 hours of advance notice!

Not only did the flowers not arrive on Friday, but they called me later and asked for her home address so they could deliver them on Saturday... I supplied them with not only her address but also her Cell phone number to make arrangements in case they missed her again. Did they arrive?... NO Did they call her?.... NO.

It's Sunday now.... still no flowers. I called them and asked what they intended on doing....

Yes, they did agree to issue a full refund, but that doesn't put flowers on my mother's table, now does it?

  • I have never posted a complaint about a company until now. Don't ever use 1-800-Flowers. My boyfriend ordered flowers for me on 2/4/08 (I have seen the order confirmation and the charge to his account) to be delivered on Valentine's Day 2008. He paid an extra $30 for a guaranteed delivery. They NEVER arrived! When he tried to call the customer service number it led him through a series of prompts that all said that due to the high call volume that they couldn’t take his call and the phone would HANG-UP! When he finally got through today, 2/15/08, he was offered a 20% discount on his original order and delivery in the next few days. (The nerve of the rep to even offer that when while they were talking about the issue the rep attempted to reach the florist who never answered the phone.) His only other option was a refund that would show up in his account in 48-36 hours. Some good the “guarantee” is from 1-800-Flowers. Don’t ruin a special occasion by using them.

Men, I imagine you can empathize with my boyfriend.

  • I even gave them another chance, unknowingly. I ordered from ProFlowers.com which I later found out is the same company, and they flopped again. I ordered flowers for my friend's birthday, and I even talked to the woman at the flower store and told her either Sat or Sun would be fine, she said Sunday would be better for her, all orders would be done by then and this would be the only order she had for Sunday. My friend was out of town for this birthday so I wanted to make it special for her by sending them to her hotel. They didn't arrive (fancy that) until Monday night. Her birthday was Sunday. I called to complain and they offered to send her more so I gave her home address, since by then she was home. They sent her a box with a half dead plant in it, and all the buds had been broken off and were in the bottom of the box. When she opened it she didn't even see the buds, it looked like a potted plant growing sticks. My next complaint ended up with the promise of an arrangement which NEVER arrived.. and on and on and on. GOOD GRIEF.
