Chocolate and Fruit fans.... Yummmm You Gotta Try It!
I've stumbled across the most delectable breakfast! I love to watch these cooking shows on TV, altho I swear I gain weight just watching them! A few days ago I saw only a snippet of something and can't remember the show exactly, but he was offering these tasty treats to people on the street! So I had to try it.
I went to the store to get the ingredients... all THREE ingredients. However, being that it's January and I live in the Midwest... strawberries are not only out of season, but at $5.99 basket they are also out of the question! So I opted for a less expensive but equally tasty fruit... the Kiwi. At 3 for $1 the price was quite enticing, the trick was to find a ripe one... I did tho, and found 2 others almost ripe. (Had to buy all 3, right?) The next 2 ingredients were easy... a soft loaf of French bread... or is it Italian? I'm not sure; I get them confused, but its the one that's soft. Last on the list and nearest to the checkout.... a plain Hershey bar. So that's it my friends... a Kiwi, Italian/French bread (unsliced), and a plain Hershey bar.
Ok here's the plan..
1) Get a small frypan on the stove and heat it slowly on low.
ASSEMBLE these OUTSIDE of the pan and then we'll slip them in down in Step 9:
2) Slice 4 slices off the loaf of bread about 1/2" - 3/4" thick each.
3) Butter ONE side of the 4 slices. This will make TWO sandwiches.
4) Slice the Kiwi into 4 slices, leaving the ends to snack on.
5) Lay 2 slices of Kiwi on the "NOT buttered" side of only 2 of the bread slices.
6) Break 2 squares of chocolate off the bar for each sandwich and lay on top of Kiwi.
7) Put the other slice of bread on top of chocolate, butter side OUT.
8) Pan is now ready, make sure it's not tooo hot.
9) Grill these babies to a light golden brown, just long enough to start chocolate melting....
Make a cup of tea or coffee while waiting... put on a plate a ENJOY.....!
Ohhh Yummmmm
